Asia Pacific Hope

Our Story
More Than 30 Years of Practical Help
Asia Pacific Hope has its origins in the charitable work of Monsignor Brian Rayner OAM, who began supporting communities across the Asia-Pacific in the early 1990s.
What began as a personal commitment to helping people in need developed into an extensive network of generosity, connecting Australian supporters with communities in Fiji and other neighbouring countries.
315 Shipping Containers to Fiji
One of the most remarkable expressions of this work began at St Catherine Labouré Parish, Gymea, where Monsignor Brian served as parish priest for sixteen years.
Through the generosity of parishioners, local residents and volunteers, shipping containers were filled with donated goods and sent to communities in Fiji.
Over the decades, 315 containers have been shipped, carrying practical items to help families and communities.
Working with local Church communities in Fiji, these goods were made available at modest prices, helping preserve the dignity of recipients while generating funds to support local infrastructure and community needs.
The shipping container ministry subsequently moved to Sefton, where volunteers have continued this important work.
Beyond Fiji
Alongside the shipping containers, Monsignor Brian and his supporters developed relationships with communities and local organisations in Timor-Leste, the Philippines and Thailand.
These relationships have enabled practical and financial assistance to reach people and projects with genuine needs.
A New Chapter
Asia Pacific Hope represents the next chapter in this longstanding charitable mission.
Established as an independently governed Australian charity, the organisation is working to ensure that the relationships and charitable activities developed over many years can continue beyond the personal involvement of its founder.
Our Aim
Our aim is to preserve what has made this work so valuable: generosity, personal relationships, practical assistance and a genuine commitment to communities in need.
